... the smallest of all cetaceans is a porpoise called the Vaquita? This tiny porpoise is only 4-5 feet (1.2-1.5 meters) long and often weighs less than 100 pounds (45 kilograms). The Vaquita also has one of the smallest ranges of any cetacean, staying at the far northern end of the Gulf of California, near the mouth of the Colorado River. Although it has the ability to survive in very shallow water, it is suffering from the effects of development and fishing. There are only 100 to 500 Vaquitas left.
